General FAQs
How did the Secret Garden Art Cafe start? Who runs it?
SGAC was created by Raffa Reuther, the artist who owns and lives in the home, as a response to their desire for space to have fun enjoying making art again. The space was previously Raffa’s live/work studio for their eponymous clothing brand, RAFFA WORKWEAR, which is now closed. Raffa realized that even after closing their brand, the space of the home and the garden are full of potential to be a haven for people wanting to tap into their creativity.
What should I expect at a workshop or art session?
You can expect a relaxing, comfortable and inspiring space to spend time doing low stakes art projects like making a collage, as well as events focused on learning specific skills like paper making. Every event will have a local chef making an NA beverage and snack, which are included in the price of your ticket. SGAC is a 420 friendly space both inside and outside, and will often have a friendly dog around for snuggles and emotional support during your creative time.

What should I bring to an art session or workshop?
Yourself! All materials will be provided.
I’m not an artist, can I still join in on an art session or workshop?
Yes you are absolutely encouraged to attend if you are not an artist! SGAC is about the joy of trying things and the relaxation that comes from giving yourself the space and time to make something with no purpose other than pleasure. Some workshops may be more intermediate level if they are part of a series.
Will I be told what to draw/paint/create?
Never! Art Cafe does not have a teacher, it is a self guided experience. There is a reference library for inspiration. Workshops will have teachers, but what you make with those skills and materials is up to you.
Food & Beverage FAQs
Will there be food/beverage options if I have specific dietary restrictions (like an allergy or vegan/vegetarian)?
There will not be options since the food options are limited and created special for each session. The chefs usually choose to provide a vegan or vegetarian dish. If you are concerned about an allergy or food restriction, there will be a section to mention this when booking your ticket.
Who do I contact if I want to be a chef for food or drinks at an event?
To be a chef for an SGAC event, contact Raffa either through the contact form
Are food and beverages included in my ticket?
Yes! A nonalcoholic beverage and a snack are included in the price of each ticket.
Is there alcohol available?
No, but you may BYOB and/or smoke inside and outside
Space Rental FAQs
How does the rental process work?
Renting the Art Cafe space can be done through Peerspace.
Is it possible to book the space for multiple days?
Not overnight, but yes schedule allowing.
